Capital FM toasts Breakfast success with more listeners across London portfolio

Chris Tarrant hands over the 95.8 Capital FM breakfast show to Johnny Vaughan with 133,000 extra listeners. London?s leading breakfast show now has 1,38 million listeners, widening the gap with its nearest commercial competitor to 545,000 and share has risen from 8.9 to 10%. Across the day, 95.8 Capital FM continues to see increases with more listeners to the midmorning, afternoon and drivetime shows. Programming improvements to the station are delivering results with reach increasing by 37,000 to 2.34 million. Hours are up by 475,000 to 17.83 million and share has risen to 7.9%.

Elsewhere in London, Xfm?s breakfast show reached an all time high of 297,000 with 40,000 extra listeners tuning in to Christian O?Connell. Capital Gold?s Mick Brown has added 38,000 listeners to his breakfast show with listeners now totalling 477,000. The Group?s newest acquisition, Choice FM, increased breakfast reach to 152,000 with 18,000 extra listeners.

Total Capital UK listeners up to 8.12 million – more listeners listening longer

In Birmingham, BRMB has claimed leadership over its nearest commercial rival within its TSA , with reach increasing to 592,000. Reach for Capital Gold Birmingham has also increased by 3,000 more listeners in the quarter and listening hours have grown by 31%.

In South Wales, Red Dragon FM has achieved its highest ever audience figures reaching 330,000 listeners with a 15.8% share of listening hours. Its lead over the nearest commercial competitor is now 97,000.

The Century FM Network has a record 1.9 million listeners and record share of 7.6%. Century 100-102 becomes the North East?s biggest station reaching more listeners than any other in the region.
