East Anglia switched on

Digital One, the national commercial digital radio multiplex operator, has switched on three new transmitters, in Great Yarmouth, Oulton and Great Massingham.

The Great Yarmouth transmitter brings national commercial DAB digital radio coverage to more than 110,000 people, the Oulton transmitter reaches 156,000 people and Great Massingham reaches 107,140. The areas covered by the three transmitters include Great Yarmouth, Lowestoft, Kings Lynn and parts of coastal East Anglia.

Digital One’s network, which is the world’s largest DAB digital radio network, now has 86 transmitters on air.

These are the first three in a phase of 10 new transmitters that Digital One has announced it will switch on over the next 18 months. The remaining new transmitters will further extend coverage in East Anglia as well as in Wales and Cumbria.
