Real Radio fix it for Jim

Veteran broadcaster Sir Jimmy Savile is coming out of retirement to host his own radio show in a one off Christmas Day special for the Real Radio network.

One of the UKs most loved broadcasters, now in his late 70s, will take to the airwaves for a three hour Christmas morning show Jimmy Savile’s Real Christmas Day Travels  between 10am & 1pm.

“It?ll be just like old times,” said Sir Jimmy, who will be revisiting the Christmas Day charts of 10, 20 and 30 years ago.

It’s been at least eight years since Sir Jimmy was behind the mic, when he hosted a networked show for commercial radio called Savile’s Travels. But it was at BBC Radio 1 and latterly on his weekly TV show Jim’ll Fix It that he became a household name.

Jimmy Savile’s Real Christmas Day Travels will be broadcast to more than 1.5 million adults on Real Radio across Wales, Scotland and Yorkshire and across the UK on Sky Digital and DAB digital radio.

Sir Jimmy added: ‘All I want is a quiet life but the prospect of being on Real Radio nationwide caused me to come back to work. Ouch!?

Group Head of Music Terry Underhill said: ‘Sir Jimmy still has what it takes and we’re delighted we’ve persuaded him to get back behind the mic. It’s a real honour for us to have him and it’ll be an extra present for the listeners when they tune in and hear his unmistakable voice on Christmas Day!?
