Richards favourite for Ofcom job

Ed Richards, currently deputy head of Ofcom, has been tipped to take over the role which will be vacated by Stephen Carter in October this year.

The Sunday Herald report that he is likely to succeed Carter after being promoted to chief operating officer at Ofcom last year and attending a Harvard management course, seen as a rite of passage to top posts. According to the newspaper, Richards refused to be drawn on his intentions but that doesn’t stop them publishing the headline. He also told them: “I am thoroughly enjoying the job I am doing right now. I have got no ambitions or desire to do anything in particular at the moment but I would like to do a variety of things that are completely different from what I am doing now. Several are in the private sector and one is potentially in the public sector.?
