Tindle Radio wins Andover licence

Tindle Radio have won the new local radio licence for Andover. The company applied for the licence as Andover FM and have previously operated two four-week trial broadcasts in Andover. The first in 2001 covering the Christmas Lights switch-on and the second as the official radio station for Andover Show and Andover Carnival in June/July 2002.

Andover 106.4 FM is wholly-owned by Provincial Radio Limited a 100% subsidiary of Tindle Radio Holdings. It will provide ‘a music-led service with a broad music mix from the 60s to today, supported with regular news, information and chat with a strong local theme’.

The licence is for a service to cover Andover which has an adult population (aged 15+) of around 40,000. However, the exact coverage will be determined by the location of the transmission site and other technical characteristics. The proposed frequency (106.4 MHz) is subject to international agreement on radio spectrum usage.
