Management changes at Emap

Derek Carter, Chief Executive of Emap Communications has joined the Emap Board as an Executive Director with immediate effect.

Emap Communications brings together the Group’s business magazines, trade exhibitions, conferences and information products. At the same time, Paul Keenan, the chief executive of Emap Consumer Media, will assume overall responsibility for all of its consumer brands across radio, magazines, TV, mobile, online and events.

Derek Carter joined Maclaren in 1978 which was acquired by Emap in 1984 and then in 1989 he became Managing Director of Emap Maclaren. In 1997 he was appointed Chief Executive of Emap Communications. Under his leadership Emap Communications has developed into the UK?s most innovative cross-platform business media group with strong brands in the retail, construction, public sector, media and automotive sectors.

Commenting on the appointment, Alun Cathcart, Chairman of Emap, said: ?I am delighted to welcome Derek to the Board. His breadth and depth of experience in both operational matters and strategic thinking will be a great asset and we look forward to working with him.?
