Third time lucky for UTV?

UTV, Irish owner of talkSPORT and numerous local radio stations across the UK has made another approach to Virgin Radio owner SMG with a new merger proposal. The latest offer is for a nil-premium merger, now that UTV's capitalisation is higher than SMG’s.

The Times reports the merger could create a media group worth about 400million pounds. Both groups have not commented on the rumour, and the newspaper has not named any sources for the news.
