Emap to cut 100 radio jobs

Emap is expected to announce more than 100 redundancies within their Scottish radio stations in a cost cutting measure aiming to save the group £3m to £4m a year. Creating two news-hubs and introducing the Magic brand could be part of the cut backs.

A Scottish station manager said there was 'a strong chance' that the medium wave stations would be re-branded as Magic.

Talking to the Sunday Herald, a spokeswoman for Emap denied that playlists would be centralised, but refused to rule out redundancies, news cutbacks or syndicated stations. She said: 'I would not want to pre-empt any announcements that we might make.'
