Sky sponsors Virgin Breakfast

As NTL gets ready to change their brand to Virgin Media, Virgin Radio has secured a 12 month advertising deal with rivals Sky. The satellite operator will sponsor the Christian O'Connell Breakfast Show from 22nd January 2007.

Virgin Radio and Sky first worked together 13 years ago when the station launched, with Sky being the first brand to run a promotion on-air.

The Sky brand sponsorship of breakfast will include heavy weight in-show sponsor credits and promotional trails and regular TV-related features as O’Connell brings the brand and products to life every morning. In addition the package will include sponsorship of the Sky TV Guide spots featured in Russ William’s mid-morning show and in The Geoff Lloyd Show in its new time slot of 8pm – midnight and bespoke online activity.

Charlie Ponsonby, Sky’s Marketing Director said “Sky and Virgin Radio have had a great relationship for over a decade. We are delighted to build on this partnership with the title sponsorship of the Christian O'Connell Breakfast Show and we look forward to working closely with Christian and the Breakfast Show team in the year ahead."

Fru Hazlitt, Virgin Radio’s Chief Executive said “This is a really exciting deal for Virgin Radio. Not only is it one of the biggest sponsorship deals we’ve ever signed, but Sky is such a natural brand partner for our most high-profile show. We’ve worked with Sky on the station for 13 years and this deal takes our partnership to a new level.”
