Virgin Radio has won the Best Net Radio Station, awarded by the International Webcasting Association. The station was up against international radio station websites including Emap's Kiss FM and Sri Lanka's Shakthi FM.
On awarding the SMG station with the award, the judges said: "Virgin Radio is a pioneer in Net Radio, consistently rated as the biggest station on line with the highest number of listeners, their service has been live continuously for longest period. A testament to doing all the streaming broadcasting in house themselves. Their online radio player has developed with the times and always rolls out new innovations in the space, including streaming advertising. A high bit rate version is available and produces a quality listening experience on multiple devices, a true webcaster."
