CityBeat searches for a star

CN-Group radio station CityBeat has launched an on-air search for young talent. The station is planning to give kids aged 8-16 the chance to take part in the ‘Young Star Search’ which will be travelling all over the country during the summer months hoping to discover the next ‘big thing’ in Northern Ireland.

The contest will be hosted by Citybeat’s head of music Stuart Robinson and will be held at civic events and shopping centres, starting next month. Commenting on the Young Star Search, Stuart told RadioToday.co.uk: “This is an ambitious project for Citybeat to be undertaking and I’m delighted that the station will be giving young people the chance to showcase their talents during the summer.

“It’s important for us to demonstrate our strong commitment to localness and by the time the summer is over we’ll have visited every region of our TSA. The Young Star Search compliments Citybeat’s brand values perfectly and kids will have the chance to perform to a combined footfall of over 250’000 people. The top 3 singers at each location will also go to the public vote with listeners selecting the overall winner — it’s going to be very exciting!”.
