Virgin Radio on Wii and PS3

If there was an award for making a radio station available on as many different platforms as possible, Virgin Radio would win it. From April 10th, the network of stations will be available via Nintendo Wii and PlayStation 3, increasing the reach of the station to a younger audience.

A specially compatible Virgin Radio Player will allow the station to stream content to the units, and users can buy tickets and CDs, as well as download tracks through the Virgin Radio Ticket Store.

James Cridland at Virgin said: "It’s great for us to achieve another new media 1st and be the only UK radio station available on both of these massively popular games consoles. People are treating the consoles as part of their home entertainment media centre, and now Virgin Radio will be part of that experience. This platform has great growth potential, particularly among early-adopters and 25-44 audience popular with advertisers.”
