In a battle of the Belfast airwaves, Cool FM late night presenter Sonya Mac has come out on top. Sonya has been paid libel damages by former Citybeat DJ Joe Ferguson for comments made about her in December 2004. And his former employers also issued a public apology to Ms Mac.
During the broadcast in question, Joe questioned Sonya's professionalism and launched into a long verbal attack against her. Sonya issued court proceedings claiming for libel on the grounds that her reputation was damaged after the comments.
Minutes before the hearing was due to commence, a barrister acting for Ferguson announced the case had been settled out of court.
