Imus in the money?

Former radio host Don Imus could sue his former employers CBS Radio in an effort to collect the $40 million balance left on his contract, according to CNN. He was sacked after making comments about the Rutgers University women’s basketball team during his early morning show on April 12th.

The shock jock has hired a New York-based First Amendment attorney to look at his options. Apparently Imus’ five-year contract, which was signed in 2006, paid him $10 million per year.

The report says Imus plans to retreat to his ranch in New Mexico for the summer before deciding whether to make another go of it on the radio. Many have speculated he could wind up in the unregulated world of satellite radio, but Dietl, his close friend, thinks he'll be back on terrestrial radio. "He's going to take off the summer, but I think he'll be back and stronger than ever," he said [[link=http://money.cnn.com/2007/05/01/news/newsmakers/pluggedin_arango_imus.fortune/index.htm?postversion=2007050212]more..[/link]]

CBS and Imus both declined to comment.
