GMG’s McCartney joins Original

Paul McCartney, Head of Client Development for GMG Radio is set to leave the company and join CanWest as Commercial Director for Original 106 in Southampton. Paul has worked in commercial radio for 19 years, most recently as Head of National Sales for Saga Radio.

Original’s Managing Director, John Evington, is delighted at the appointment: "We have an incredibly strong listener proposition and, as a regional station serving several large conurbations, there’s a huge revenue opportunity. That’s why we’ve created this new senior role to oversee the strategic development of all revenue streams going forward. I am thrilled that Paul has agreed to join us at this exciting time. He has an unrivalled track record in radio sales management and I am confident that he will lead our commercial teams to even greater success”.

Commenting on his appointment Paul McCartney said: “It was a big decision to leave GMG Radio who I am sure will do great things in the future, however this was too good an opportunity to miss. The Original brand has enormous potential and with the backing of global media giant, CanWest, there’s no question that it will become the major force in radio across the south. I can’t wait to become part of the team".
