Simpsons deal for Capital 95.8

Capital 95.8 is to become the official radio station of the new Simpsons movie, in a six-figure deal between GCap Media and 20th Century Fox. Capital will create various Simpsons related stunts including an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for building the tallest doughnut tower.

Other activity will include Matt Groening interviews live on the Breakfast show, ‘roadblocking’ capitalradio.com on day of the premiere as well as on the day of the official release and for the first time ever, adapting Johnny Vaughan’s regular breakfast show feature; ‘Welshie Calling’ to incorporate The Simpsons.

Welshie will call real towns called Springfield live on air in a series of Bart Simpson style phone pranks and will attempt to keep the recipient on the phone for as long as possible. Listeners will be asked to guess prior to the hoax call whether the recipient will hang up or stay on the line to win fantastic Simpsons related holidays around the world.

Other stations participating in various promotional activities around the film’s premiere include, XFM, Classic FM and One Network.

The deal was brokered by GCap Media’s Krissie Ford and Katie Feder. Charlie Clapham, Head of Media Partnerships at Twentieth Century Fox said: "I have really enjoyed how excited GCap have been with The Simpsons. They have incorporated all their media platforms, including great on-air mechanics, fantastic on-line presence plus a great and very out of the ordinary doughnut Guinness world record attempt"
