Brighton DJ wins 6 Music set

A DJ from Brighton has won the right to have a live mix set broadcast on BBC 6 Music. DJ Meatbreak from Brighton went head to head with other DJs from around the UK but finally played live last night at the Summer Sundae Weekender in Leicester. His set will be aired next week.

The competition was broadcast as part of the digital station’s Listener’s 6 Mix programme, broadcast every Sunday from 8pm. Over five weeks DJs from towns including Sheffield, Cardiff, Leeds, Plymouth, Liverpool and Bournemouth have gone head to head for their chance to win this prestigious prize, as voted for by fellow listeners.

With over 1000 votes cast in the final alone the winners have been decided with Meatbreak playing at the Summer Sundae Weekender, a festival partnered by BBC 6 Music featuring its own BBC 6 Music Hub stage hosted by DJs from the festival.

On hearing of his win, Meatbreak aka Duncan Nicholas said: ‘This Virtual Tour has been a great opportunity to get some local underground music onto national radio and the DJ set at Summer Sundae is going to give it more exposure. I can guarantee they won’t have heard anything like it before.’
