First look at GCap’s Gold logo

Ahead of the official launch of Gold tomorrow evening, RadioToday.co.uk brings you another first – the new logo and programme schedule in full. The logo is silver on black with a subtle guitar symbol over a lower-case "gold" and the station's new "It's all about the music" strapline.

The new brand's been created following the merger of Classic Gold and Capital Gold. On weekdays, David Jensen is joined by co-host Erica North on breakfast. They'll be followed by David Andrews, then the only non-networked show 12-4pm – voicetracked locally by presenters around the country. On Capital Gold London the opt-out programme will start an hour later, at 1pm, and be fronted by Dean Martin.

Current Capital Gold Manchester jock Mike Sweeney takes over the weekday Drivetime slot from 4pm to 8pm, followed by Sam Hughes on the 8-midnight show (Monday to Thursday).

Weekends include Paul Coyte on breakfast both days and David Jensen's Saturday Celebrity Show with OK! Magazine has survived the schedule shake-up. Mike Sweeney's Rock Show moves from Friday nights to Saturday afternoons 12-2pm – and Sweeney's back on Sunday nights too with 60s Classics and "At The Hop". See below for the full schedule.

GCap say the Gold network will have 3 minutes of news every hour – including local news, traffic and travel, weather and sports updates.

Gold's Station Director, Andy Turner says: "We're delighted to be where we are today but it's all work in progress as we continue to merge the two networks over the summer to create the UK's No 1 Classic Hits Station. We will continue to develop the brand into the autumn when we will add new programmes, features and music specials to the schedule".

Talking about the new logo, Grant Brookes, Gold's head of Marketing and Partnerships, said: "The logo represents a recognisable and iconic image which reflects the station's strong music association. We have created an images that communicates our vision for the classic hits format which stands out from the competition."
