More Boro for Century FM

In response to Middlesborough match commentary moving to BBC Radio Cleveland, GMG Radio's Century FM is introducing a Sunday lunchtime show on their 100.7 frequency dedicated to all things Boro. The new show will start this weekend, hosted by Bernie Slaven and Ali Brownlee.

Legendary commentator Ali, who has reported on over 1,000 matches during his career, and Century FM Legend Bernie, who scored 147 goals for the club, will be continuing their on-air partnership despite the station no longer running match commentaries.

Ali, who has supported the club since the sixties, said: “We know that Simply Red Sunday will become a vital part of all Middlesbrough fans’ weekends, whether we’re reviewing a match from Saturday or looking ahead to a Sunday or mid-week game. Bernie and I have built up a terrific partnership over the past 10 years and are delighted to be hosting a show that we believe will bring something unique to the airwaves.

Paul Smith, programme controller at Century FM told RadioToday.co.uk: "We've supported both the club and the fans to the hilt for the past 12 years, and we don't intend to shy away from that commitment. Ali and Bernie are the voice of the Boro on Teesside – this show is for the supporters, an on-air message board for fans to air their views on what's really happening on the pitch.”

Simply Red Sunday will be broadcast on 100.7FM across the south of the region and on digital radio across the UK.
