Two apply for Oxfordshire DAB

Two applications have been received by Ofcom to operate a local DAB digital radio multiplex licence to cover the Oxfordshire area. Once again GCap Media's Now Digital is going head to head with MuxCo to provide a variety of programming services including Traffic Radio and the new JACK fm.

Both applicants propose to carry Fox FM, Oxford's FM107.9, JACK fm, Traffic Radio and UCB UK.

MuxCo are also proposing to carry Touch FM, Easy Radio and a new classic hits service called Castle Digital aimed at older listeners and have reserved two channels for well known brands, details of which remain confidential. Now Digital offers additional services Xfm, MY FM (soft adult) and a currently confidential Adult Contemporary service.

BBC Radio Oxford will also be carried.

Is it anticipated a decision will be made before the end of the year.
