Xfm South Wales launches

Xfm has launched in South Wales. The GCap Media station was opened by Welsh band The Manic Street Preachers who played three live songs in the studio, which was also simulcast on sister stations in London, Manchester and Scotland.

The licence won by GCap was one of the last on offer from Ofcom this year, and was much sought after by the major groups including Chrysalis, GMG, Town and Country and Absolute Radio. The station is based in the Red Dragon Centre, along with Red Dragon FM and Gold in Cardiff.
