Alvin takes over Heart network

Global Radio's Heart network will be be taken over by Alvin and the Chipmunks this Christmas to highlight their upcoming movie release. The guess-the-celeb competition will run on stations in the midlands next week, followed by Jamie and Harriet’s Heart Breakfast show in London a week later.

During each show, Jamie and Harriet will play out voices of celebrities that have been ‘munk-ised’ – voices sped up to mirror those of Alvin and chums, with listeners having to guess who each celebrity is in return for a cash prize.

Jennie Stubbs, account director at Global Radio Sales, said: “Kids are going to go wild for Alvin and the Chipmunks and listeners are sure to have great fun trying to guess the names of the celebs we have ‘munk-ised’ on Jamie and Harriet’s show. Guessing them correctly is trickier than you might think!”

Alvin and The Chipmunks hits cinemas on 21st December and sees the life of a songwriter (played by My Name is Earl’s Jason Lee) turned upside down when he meets three lively singing chipmunks: leader Alvin, genius Simon and the sensitive Theodore.

Meanwhile, all Heart stations are to get a new area on their websites which will include a dedicated travel section, providing listeners with an archive of travel guides as well as regular promotions and monthly giveaways. The brand is partnering with Dorling Kindersley (DK) Travel Guides to create the new online travel-focused content.
