Capital Radio bins Bam Bam

Capital 95.8 weekday evening presenter Bam Bam has left the flagship GCap Media station, RadioToday.co.uk can reveal. His departure comes as new managing director Paul Jackson oversees further changes to the daytime line-up.

Bam Bam, real name Peter Poulton, was famously fired from his former station Kiss 100 in 2006 after attracting the largest ever radio fine whilst hosting the breakfast show. He joined Capital Radio in March this year to present the evening show with his former on-air colleague street boy.

In other changes, Margherita Taylor is set to takeover mid-mornings and new signing Greg Burns will host drivetime, replacing Lucio who is relegated to the evening show.

Greg Burns was set to replace James Cannon on mid-mornings but further changes are expected to be announced.

Paul Jackson said: “ I am delighted that a presenter of Marghertia’s standing and class will be following on from Johnny Vaughan everyday, there is really no better combination in UK radio. At the other end of the day I am thrilled to welcome Greg Burns to the Drivetime show; he’s an experienced quality broadcaster and will be a core part of the future of Capital. With Greg taking over Drive, it’s an exciting time for Lucio as he can really spread his wings in his new show which host major interviews, live sessions and premiere action. We’re sorry to see Bam Bam go as he has served the station well over the last year but we need to look forward to defining Capital for 2008. “
