Skinner joins Original 106fm

Richard Skinner is joining Solent’s Original 106fm from next month. The veteran broadcaster famed for his time presenter at Radio 1, Virgin Radio and as the voice of Live Aid will present mid-mornings from January 14th.

Skinner's broadcasting career spans three decades presenting programmes including the Top 40, Roundtable and the Evening Rock Show for Radio 1 and stints at Capital and GLR. Richard was also Virgin Radio’s launch programme director. He started his radio interest at Southampton's Hospital Broadcasting Association, and BBC Radio Solent.

More recently Skinner returned to Virgin for the launch of Classic Rock in May 2004 before joining BBC Radio Berkshire. He will be replacing senior manager Martyn Lee on weekday mid-mornings.

Managing Director, John Evington said: “Richard is one of the most experienced and respected presenters in the country. He has remained at the top of his game for over 30 years on national radio and TV and we are delighted to have him on board.”
