GMG Radio is launching its own in-house sponsorship and promotions team called GMG Radio Solutions, to be headed up by John Walker, currently Head of Radio at OMD UK.
Walker will be Sponsorship and Promotions Director in early Spring and will lead a team of eight account managers and co-ordinators in developing new long term S&P business for the group's 13 stations which broadcast across the UK under the Smooth, Real, Century and Rock Radio brands.
GMG Radio Solutions is being launched following the decision by the group to take its S&P activity in-house when the company moved its national sales contract from Global to GCap on January 1st 2008.
Walker has been Head of Radio at OMD UK for almost 10 years and is widely regarded as one of the most experienced radio professionals among media agencies. He will take responsibility for the strategic development of GMG Radio Solutions.
GMG Radio's current Head of Group S&P Henrietta Prosser, will become Head of National S&P, managing the team on a day-to-day basis.
