Less Fun but more jazz on DAB

It might not seem big news in the 21st century for a station to go stereo but a year after launch and Classic FM's sister station theJazz has secured extra capacity on the Digital One national multiplex. The station now transmits a stereo signal DAB at 128kbps.

The changes come as other stations broadcasting digitally are set to close or reduce the amount of areas covered, including Core, Life and FUN Radio.
FUN Radio is now only available on a digital radio in the London area, having previously been available in Essex, Berkshire, Wiltshire, Bristol, Dorset, Cardiff, Kent and Sussex.
Presenter-less jukebox Core is closing this week, with Colourful Radio rumoured to be taking the vacant space, and Capital Life is expected to disappear due to lack of investment by owners GCap.
