Lincs FM plans country station

Lincs FM has teamed up with MuxCo to apply for the local digital radio multiplex covering Lincolnshire. The sole applicant proposes five new services, including a 24 hour country music station named Lincs Country, UCB and Traffic Radio.

Lincs FM chief executive and MuxCo director Michael Betton says: “We’re very excited about today’s application. It means for the first time, listeners right across the county will be able to hear local stations on their DAB Digital Radio. It also means the team at Lincs FM will be busy building a brand new Country music station for Lincolnshire”.
Gregory Watson, managing director of MuxCo submitted the bid to Ofcom yesterday and said: “With strong radio stations and strong coverage across the whole County, we’re pleased with the application we submitted today. In December last year over half a million digital radios were sold so it’s about time local stations started broadcasting on DAB Digital Radio”.
The multiplex will also broadcast podcasts direct to listeners’ radios on a variety of topics from organisations as diverse as ITN and local community station Siren FM.
