Peter Murphy retires from IRN

One of IRN’s most famous voices has recorded his final report, as political editor Peter Murphy retires after 31 years at Westminster.

A retirement party took place at the Atrium restaurant to celebrate Peter’s time at IRN, in which he has seen five Prime Ministers enter Downing Street from James Callaghan to Gordon Brown.
Jon Godel, editor of IRN said — “Peter has been ‘the voice’ of commercial radio political news for generations of listeners. The fact that his tenure at IRN Westminster has seen five Prime Ministers is astonishing. He is a talented communicator – his brilliance is being able to tell the facts in a direct, relevant and incisive way.”
