Steve Penk leaves Fox FM

Steve Penk is to leave GCap's Fox FM a year after joining to host the breakfast show. The news was announced by the presenter live on-air yesterday, who cited "internal politics" as a reason for his departure. Fox FM have told Radio Today the decision for Penk to leave was made mutually.

The former Capital and Virgin presenter began at Fox on March 12th last year, as GCap's heritage station geared up to take on 106 Jack FM.
Fox FM's Programme Controller at that time, Jon O'Neill said: "This is a real coup for Fox to attract a presenter of Steve's calibre. Steve is a seasoned broadcaster who brings a wealth of talent and experience to the radio station."
Current Programme Controller Helen Grimes confirmed the departure, telling Radio Today: "We have agreed to not renew Steve Penk's current contract on the Fox FM Breakfast Show.
"He is finding the daily commute from London to Oxford difficult and can't commit to another 12 month contract.
"Therefore we mutually feel the best thing for the station is to start our search for a new show. We remain on good terms and wish Steve the very best for the future."
Penk will leave the station in March. A new breakfast show host has yet to be announced.
