Another orchestra for Classic

Classic FM has partnered with Northern Sinfonia of The Sage in Gateshead to air live music and help build awareness of the orchestra around the UK.

Together, Classic FM and Northern Sinfonia will work on a series of projects to raise the profile of the orchestra throughout the UK and to build new audiences for live concerts. Classic FM will showcase the work of Northern Sinfonia both on-air and online, with the first of these features taking place on March 5th, when the Classic FM Evening Concert gives an exclusive preview of the orchestra’s latest recording of Stravinsky's Violin Concerto, played by Northern Sinfonia's Music Director, Thomas Zehetmair, plus Sibelius's Symphony No.6.
Speaking about the partnership, Classic FM Managing Director Darren Henley said: “Northern Sinfonia is this country’s foremost chamber orchestra and we’re delighted to be working with them to build new audiences for them and The Sage Gateshead, and its touring venues around the north-east.”
Northern Sinfonia joins the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, the Philharmonia Orchestra, the London Symphony Orchestra and the Orchestra of Welsh National Opera as the latest of Classic FM’s orchestral partners.
