Blackburn back on breakfast

Tony Blackburn is to join 102.2 Smooth Radio in London as the new presenter of weekend breakfast. The broadcasting legend, who has worked in the radio industry over four decades, joins the station on Saturday 16th February, from 7am to 10am.

Blackburn was the first DJ to be heard on Radio One in 1967. Since then has worked across the BBC, both radio and TV, as well as Ch4 and ITV and many local radio stations. Recently, he left the Classic Gold breakfast show and published his autobiography, Poptastic: My Life in Radio in September 2007.
Gavin McCoy, 102.2 Smooth Radio Programme Controller said: "Tony is a consummate professional and an entertainer through and through. We are over the moon he'll be leading the charge on the weekends."
Blackburn added: "Smooth Radio is a wonderful station with a growing audience and a music format I love. Doing the weekend breakfast show gives me the opportunity to really enjoy what I’ll be doing and with the team, deliver a great show."
