Gold Network breaks the rules

The Gold Network have been found in breach of Ofcom guidelines, after running a competition some listeners stood no chance of winning.

The contest, to win a set of limited edition box set of Elvis Presley singles, was broadcast across all Gold stations in October last year. Listeners had to text the answer to a given question when the song was played.
However listeners were not told that only answers received while the song played would be accepted.
GCap stated that while the competition charged premium rates for text entries, the company did not profit from the contest. The regulators have stated that similar breaches in the future are likely to result in further regulatory action.
