Radio up for Brit Awards

The Commercial Radio industry has announced plans for its first Brits Radio Week in the week prior to The BRIT Awards 2008 ceremony, which takes place at London's Earls Court on February 20.

Over 170 commercial radio stations will take part with special Brits radio programming on both the CHR and the AC networks.
Hit40UK will be launching the voting for the British Single award category on 10th February, running across the 134 stations in the CHR network. In addition, the shortlist of 10 nominees for the British Single category will be voted for by commercial radio listeners.
All participating stations will have tickets to give away offering listeners the chance to attend the awards show.
Andrew Harrison, chief executive of the RadioCentre said: "This involvement reflects the critical contribution that commercial radio makes to the music industry reaching over 30 million listeners every week – and within that, reaching 69% of 15-44 year olds, the key market for music sales."
