BBC Asian Network's Adil Ray has won the award for best radio show at the UK Asian Media Awards at London's Royal Festival Hall.
Adil Ray's drivetime show pipped Ameet Chana's Breakdown show, also on BBC Asian Network, Neev's programme on Kiss FM, Punjabi Hit Squad's BBC 1xtra show and Suzi Mann's weekly Bollywood Top 20 on Sunrise Radio at the awards on March 6th.
Adil Ray said: "It was worth it to see the smile on my Mum's face! I'm very happy."
Mark Strippel, head of music for the Asian Network said: "The Adil Ray show has forged a strong reputation for creative British-Asian entertainment and music. This is a good endorsement."
Andy Parfitt, the new controller of BBC Asian Network, added: "I'm delighted for Adil and the team who have all worked very hard."
