GMG Radio is about to spend part of a one million pounds advertising budget on a new three-week long television campaign for Real Radio Wales and Century Radio in the northwest and northeast. The ads feature Duran Duran’s Rio and promote the strap-line "Music you just have to song along to".
The tongue-in-cheek style ads feature a couple singing on a narrow boat rather than the glamorous yacht in the original version, and were created by Clear Marketing. Outdoor activity will also support the TV spot.
GMG Radio group marketing manager Helen Dickinson said: “We will be spending a significant sum on marketing our Real/Century Network over the coming year to encourage new listeners to tune-in and this first burst of activity kicks off what will be a busy year for our stations in their regions.”
Real Radio Scotland and Real Radio Yorkshire will also be launching significant regional campaigns during the spring.
