UBC expands in US radio market

UBC Media has been appointed as part of a consortium by the National Association of Broadcasters to develop an EPG for HD Radio in the United States.

UBC's wholly-owned software subsidiary Unique Interactive will be part of a team set up to shape the requirements, system architecture and specification of an Electronic Programme Guide (EPG) suited to the terrestrial digital radio system known as HD Radio. Project work has already begun in the US, with early results expected by this summer.
Unique's work in the US will be similar to their EPG facility for DAB in the UK.
Simon Cole. CEO of UBC Media Group said: "We have always seen the leading position we have built in the DAB digital radio market as a springboard to allow us to develop significant business overseas in countries where the digital technology is more nascent. This contract is significant in that it is being awarded by the association that represents the entire terrestrial radio industry in the USA.
"Unique Interactive already has contracts in the US satellite digital radio industry and this year, more than 70% of our software revenues will come from the USA. Over the last four years, we have successfully used the UK's lead in digital radio to create an international market for our products".
