Debbie McGee joins BBC local

Debbie McGee, celebrity wife of Paul Daniels has joined BBC Radio Berkshire on a permanent basis to host a new Sunday morning show, from 9am till midday.

Talking about her new show, Debbie said: "I absolutely loved doing radio, it is great fun and everyone at the station has been really supportive. I am just going to be myself and hopefully people will like it. It is great to be doing a show about a place that both Paul and I love. This is a real opportunity for people to get to know the real me."
And having to dedicate her Sunday mornings to getting Berkshire up and about certainly won't be a challenge: "I've led a very busy life and am used to working seven days a week so working on a Sunday is kind of normal.
"On a Sunday you want to think about more light-hearted issues and have more laughter. I love to have a joke, I can be serious but life is about having some giggles. Of course if there are serious issues that need to be addressed then we will but you do need to have some fun in your life."
Debbie and her husband Paul Daniels have lived in Berkshire for 11 years. As well as being a celebrated entertainer, Debbie still finds time for hobbies.
Welcoming Debbie, BBC Radio Berkshire managing editor Marianne Bell said: "Debbie's love of life and Berkshire is perfect for our Sunday morning programme. She brings a tough of glamour, but you are just as likely to bump into her doing her weekly shopping in our local supermarket.
"She is warm and empathetic and I know people will want to call her to share their stories."
