Southern girl quits after 21 years

Southern FM Breakfast Presenter Nicky Keig-Shevlin this morning announced her decision to quit after two decades at the station.

The presenter began her career at Southern FM 21 years ago in 1987, as co-host with then Sunday evening presenter Tommy Boyd. Two years later she began co-presenting the Southern FM Breakfast Show.
On the Southern FM website, Keig-Shevlin said: "I have absolutely loved working at Southern FM, however after 19 years of getting up at 4:15am every day I think I'm finally owed a lie in. I've got a new phase in my life about to begin, kicking off with getting married in just a few weeks time so it seemed like the most natural time for me to take a break."
Programme Controller Tony Aldridge commented "She's such a fantastic talent and it's going to be a challenge to replace her. There are very few presenters in radio today who have spent 19 years on a breakfast show creating fun and entertaining radio every single day like Nicky has."
