Danny Baker is back in the BBC's good books as he returns once again to host Radio 5 Live's 606 football phone-in.
His new weekly programme will last for the duration of the 2008/09 football season and comes after his recent brief return during Euro 2008.
He will start hosting the show every Tuesday, 10-11pm, throughout the season from Tuesday September 16 when the Champions League group stage gets underway.
Danny, who claims to have been sacked three times from the corporation many times before, said: "Despite everything you hear – the BBC is actually staggeringly clever. "
5 Live commissioning editor Jonathan Wall said: "Danny proved very popular during his Euro 2008 stint. It was very rarely about the football itself!
"You never know quite what you are going to get but that is a huge part of Danny's appeal. He's fun, will provide something a bit different, and I'm sure he will keep his production team on its toes!
