Planet Rock marketing "a priority"

Planet Rock’s new owner has vowed to increase the station’s low public profile by making an increased awareness of the station a top priority.

Speaking in this week's issue of Music Week, Businessman Malcolm Bluemel said: “There has been very little marketing for Planet Rock so people don’t know it exists in a lot of cases. I think a lot of our listeners find us by accident,” he says.
Bluemel, who acquired the award-winning station for an undisclosed fee from Gcap in June, admits he himself first stumbled across Planet Rock when he was searching through services on a digital radio.
He is convinced, due to the lack of marketing for the station under its previous owner, there is a far larger, untapped market for the station across the UK.
