The licence currently held by Huddersfield FM Limited is up for renewal, and Ofcom is inviting declarations of intent from any person or company interested in challenging Pennine FM.
The current licence, until recently owned by The Local Radio Company, is due to expire in February 2010.
Ofcom proposes to grant a further licence for this area, for a period from the expiry date of the current licence to 31 December 2015. The closing-date for the receipt of declarations of intent from prospective licence applicants is 3pm on Wednesday 01 October 2008.
Meanwhile, Ofcom has received one declaration of intent for the Thanet local commercial radio licence from the current licensee, kmfm Thanet Limited. Ofcom is therefore inviting them to reapply for the licence under the 'fast-track' procedure as set out in Ofcom's guidelines.
