BBC Local Radio slumps

BBC Local Radio collectively lost over 4.5 million listening hours in the last quarter alone, suffering losses in reach, average hours and market share.

Many stations saw their audience collapse; BBC Radio Lancashire saw its figures slump to an all-time low in every measure, as did BBC Radio Manchester.
BBC Radio Newcastle's share of audience hit a new low, while total hours reached their lowest since 1999.
Total listening for BBC WM and BBC Southern Counties Radio went into freefall over the past three months; BBC WM lost nearly a quarter of its hours – over one million – while Southern Counties lost almost a third of theirs.
A handful of stations saw significant gains – BBC Cumbria, BBC Hereford & Worcester and Nottingham – but the losses far outweighed the gains at the majority of stations.
