UAE Virgin Radio presenter fired

DUBAI: A presenter on Virgin Radio Dubai has been fired for making a pretend phone call to God – live on air. He was let-go for mocking religion and impersonating God.

Revin John pretended to act out a conversation with God, prompting complaints from listeners of "diverse faiths and nationalities," Arabian Radio Network said in a statement.

He intended the feature to be funny but instead ended up offending the Muslim and Christian community in the UAE, chief operating officer Steve Smith said.

And even though the present later apologised, a Facebook group has been set up by a local student to highlight the wrong-doing of the incident.
