UTV Radio to sell Talk 107

Edinburgh's speech station Talk 107 is officially for sale. Owner UTV has announced plans to concentrate on talkSPORT and local music stations in the north west of England and south Wales.

The station started broadcasting in 2006, just over a year after winning the licence and fighting off competition from 11 other strong bids.
Talk 107 was the first all-speech station outside of London. Now it is only one of two, with Liverpool's City Talk now broadcasting to Merseyside.
Scott Taunton, UTV Radio (GB) chief executive, said: "The sale of talk107 makes both strategic and commercial sense for UTV Radio. It will allow us to focus resources on our flagship national station talkSPORT and our ILR music stations, which are based predominantly in the North West of England and South Wales.
"This is a valuable licence broadcasting to an audience of one million adults in Scotland's capital city. Given the number of initial applications for the Edinburgh FM licence in 2004, we would expect to attract considerable interest from a number of potential buyers."
