Gaunt support gains ground

Controversial shock jock Jon Gaunt has gained support from an unlikely source after being [link=https://radiotoday.co.uk/news.php?extend.4076]sacked[/link] by TalkSport for labelling a councillor a “Nazi”; human rights group Liberty.

This comes after Gaunt described Liberty director, Shami Chakrabarti as, ‘the most dangerous woman in Britain in his Sun column last year. In a letter to Talksport management, Chakrabarti said, “As someone who has been on the receiving end of Jon Gaunt’s blunt polemic… I believe the airwaves of a great democracy would be the poorer for his absence.
“I urge you to reinstate Mr Gaunt’s programme without delay and have offered him support in the unlikely and unfortunate event that recourse to the Human Rights Act proves necessary.”
The broadcaster has also received support from war veteran and one of only three surviving Gurkhas awarded the Victoria Cross, Lieutenant Tul Bahadur Pun. In a letter to TalkSport, he too asked that Gaunt, who he refers to as a “loyal friend” of the Gurkhas, be reinstated to his post.
