North Hampshire's local station Kestrel FM has announced Saxon Wood School in Winklebury as the winner of the £4,000 first prize in the 2008 Barclays Community Challenge.
Kestrel FM Programme Manager Mark Watson said, “The response to the Community Challenge has been fantastic with hundreds of votes coming in everyday. As a result many of the local charities and initiatives have received lots of publicity over the last four weeks on Kestrel FM?”
“We are delighted to have worked in partnership with the Barclays team on this project which has provided a direct benefit to local community groups here in North Hampshire.”
Listeners were invited to submit projects for the Barclays Community Challenge during November 2008. From here a panel from Kestrel FM and Barclays selected five finalists who presented their projects on air, and subsequently gained votes from listeners via the station’s website.
