Senior changes at GMG Radio

GMG Radio is planning a number of new senior level positions ahead of the appointment of Stuart Taylor as Chief Executive of the group, RadioToday.co.uk can reveal.
Changes include the departure of Julian Carter as Group Sales Director and the appointment of a new Commercial Director based in London.

As Julian's position, currently based in Manchester, will cease to exist early next year, he has decided to take redundancy from the group after six years: "Julian has played an integral role in building the revenue for GMG Radio, initiating the National Sponsorship and Promotions team, the Regional Agency Team, the Smooth Brand team and the Commercial Digital department and he will be missed by his many colleagues," Stuart said.
A new National Sales Director will also be appointed, as Stuart moves from his current position of Group Commercial Director and Deputy Chief Exec to become CEO in the spring, replacing group founder John Myers who is taking up part-time retirement.
The Commercial Director and National Sales Director, both based in London, will be tasked with building and strengthening the group’s station three brands, whilst a new Group Marketing Director will work with the current marketing team.
Stuart Taylor: “My forthcoming move to the position of CEO has provided an opportunity to look at our senior management structure to see if we could strengthen the team further. It’s crucial that we have the right resource to drive this business forward in the coming years, which is why we are committed to bringing in talented senior individuals to maximise the commercial potential of our brands.”
GMG Radio owns the Smooth, Rock, and Real/Century brands.
