Rother and Coast win awards

Rother FM and Coast 96.3 both picked up a Radio Academy Nations and Regions Awards on Thursday evening at two seperate radio industry events.

The team from Rother FM picked up the Yorkshire Regional Award, and was presented with the honour by RadioCentre's Andrew Harrison at a social evening in Leeds.
During the evening, Harrison spoke about the hard times facing the radio industry, and how he expects more local commercial radio stations will close this year and hand back their licence to Ofcom. Galaxy Yorkshire breakfast presenter Simon Hirst also hosted a music and radio "pub quiz", in which the team from Real Radio won first prize.
In Wales, industry professionals gathered at Glyndwr University's Gallery to see a Questions and Answers session with Frank Sidebottom by Marcher Sound's Simon Nicks, and celebrate Coast 96.3's Nations Award for Wales.
Both stations are now in the running to win the Station of the Year Award (under 300,000 TSA) at the Sonys in May.
