IRN to offer Sky TV for Obits

IRN has confirmed to member stations that during an Obituary or Major Incident, the audio of the Sky News television channel will be available on the IRN1 channel.

The Sky News audio will continue until the first hour or half-hour point when a two minute radio-specific bulletin will be provided, followed by the return of the television output. The feed will be available on IRN1 and the Sky Radio Astra channel.

Stations will be advised if the bulletin lengths will be extended, depending on the news.

An example of a major event includes the death of the Queen or the unexpected death of a senior royal or very senior public figure.
