Smooth Radio wins a How Do

The North West's Smooth Radio has won the title of Radio Station of the Year at the 2009 How Do Awards.

The awards, which celebrate all media and publishing industries in the North West of England, gave praise to the Guardian Media Group station, which beat Rock FM, Key 103 and Juice FM.
The only other radio related awards at the awards ceremony, which took place at Manchester United Football Club's ground, was for Best Media Website, which Bauer's City Talk was nominated for but which was eventually won by BBC Liverpool/BBC Radio Merseyside. Made In Manchester Productions also gained a commendation in the Best Independent TV/Radio Production Company category.
Over 500 guests turned up for the event, which featured guest speakers Peter Salmon, the BBC's Director North and Mark Howe, Country Director of Sales for Google UK.
